For three years I lived in marketing — direct, online, all of it. I helped run a firm doing marketing for Fortune 500 companies, managed a team of 15–20, and built the sales engine behind it. I learned exactly how the big agencies work.
But I'm not a corporate guy, and the culture wasn't me. So I left — and went into roofing. That's when I watched it up close: the owner I worked for kept getting taken advantage of by the same kind of companies making the same empty promises. Big fees, a pretty website, zero results.
I couldn't sit with that. I already knew marketing — so on my own time I built the site, learned what makes roofing actually tick, and got to work.
